Family Caregivers Getting Burned Out
In the beginning of the pandemic my phone was quiet. Normally I get several calls a week where families are looking for help- but in March it was silent. By the beginning of May my phone exploded. The stress of caring for a loved one who are ill and/or disabled was taking it's toll. Caregivers faced stress prior to the pandemic, after COVID-19 their stress levels were off the charts. I have had families call me and simply say "I can't do this anymore". My job is to help them, but in the middle of a pandemic resources are getting sparse.
Judy Woodruff on PBS News Hour interviewed a number of caregivers who all reported an unfathomable level of stress in caring for their loved ones. #caregiving
